Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – Cairns & Regional QLD
Be ready to help when it matters most.
ASIST is a two-day, internationally recognised workshop that teaches you how to intervene when someone is at risk of suicide. It's practical, powerful, and designed for everyday people—not just clinicians.
Whether you're a community member, parent, teacher, youth worker, or support staff, ASIST gives you the confidence to ask directly about suicide, hold the space, and create a plan that supports safety and hope.
What you’ll learn
How to recognise when someone may be thinking about suicide
How to ask clearly and directly about suicide
How to listen with empathy and without judgment
How to work collaboratively to build a safety plan
How to increase connection and link to professional support
ASIST is immersive and practical. You’ll learn through videos, group discussion, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice in a safe, supportive environment. You don’t need a counselling background—just a willingness to show up and learn.
Who It’s For
